Platts Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy
At Platts Physiotherapy, our philosophy is centred around skilled, hands on assessment and treatment. While technology and digital healthcare have an important role to play, we firmly believe that nothing replaces the value of an experienced clinician physically assessing how your body moves, functions and responds to treatment.
The hands on element of physiotherapy is often where the most important information is found. Through detailed manual assessment, we can identify restrictions, movement patterns and underlying causes of pain that cannot always be appreciated through scans, questionnaires or virtual consultations alone. This allows us to develop a treatment plan that is truly tailored to you.
Manual therapy forms the foundation of much of our treatment. We frequently combine this with other evidence-based interventions, including electrotherapy such as ultrasound, alongside personalised exercise programmes and education to support your recovery between appointments. In our experience, this combination often provides the most effective and efficient route to recovery.
Every patient is different, and there is no “one size fits all” approach. The blend of treatments we use is guided by our clinical findings, your goals and your individual circumstances. Above all, we take the time to listen. Understanding your concerns, lifestyle and objectives is fundamental to delivering the best possible outcome.
Injury Diagnosis
As highly skilled musculoskeletal clinicians, we are well placed to provide a thorough clinical diagnosis following assessment. Our detailed hands on examination, combined with your history and symptoms, allows us to identify the source of many musculoskeletal problems without the immediate need for further investigations.
Where appropriate, we may recommend additional imaging such as an MRI scan or X-ray. If this is necessary, we will explain our clinical reasoning clearly and help you understand the next steps, enabling you to have a more informed discussion with your GP or specialist.
Occupational Health
For more than 14 years, we have provided occupational physiotherapy services to businesses of all sizes. Our goal is to help employees recover effectively, reduce the impact of musculoskeletal problems and support a safe return to work.
By combining accurate assessment, hands on treatment and practical workplace advice, we help organisations minimise downtime while improving employee wellbeing and productivity. Whether you are a small business or a large organisation, we would be delighted to discuss how our services can support your workforce.
GP Services
For over 14 years, we have worked alongside GPs and primary care teams, delivering physiotherapy services within GP surgeries and healthcare settings.
Our expertise in musculoskeletal assessment and management enables us to support patients efficiently while helping practices make the most of physiotherapy led care. We are always interested in speaking with forward-thinking practices looking to enhance patient pathways and improve access to specialist musculoskeletal services. References from established clinics are available upon request.
As Chartered Physiotherapists registered with the HCPC, we are recognised by major insurance providers.
Sports Injury
We are passionate about helping athletes and active individuals return to the activities they love. As current or former competitive sports participants ourselves, we understand both the physical and psychological impact that injury can have.
Our focus is not simply on treating symptoms but on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of injury. Through a combination of expert hands on treatment, rehabilitation and tailored training advice, we help you recover as efficiently as possible. Rather than relying on prolonged periods of complete rest, we aim to keep you moving and maintain fitness wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.
Massage
Massage has been used for thousands of years across many cultures and remains an important part of musculoskeletal care. At Platts Physiotherapy, we focus primarily on remedial and sports massage, as we believe these approaches provide the greatest benefit for muscle function, recovery and injury management.
Whether used as a standalone treatment or as part of a wider rehabilitation programme, massage can help reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, enhance recovery and support overall musculoskeletal health.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a physiotherapy treatment that can help manage pain, reduce inflammation and support the body's natural healing processes. By inserting fine needles into carefully selected points, acupuncture stimulates the release of the body's own pain relieving and healing chemicals.
Treatment is always tailored to the individual following a detailed assessment. We use sterile, single use needles and combine acupuncture with our wider physiotherapy approach when clinically appropriate. Many patients find acupuncture helpful for both acute and persistent musculoskeletal conditions, often experiencing improvements in pain, mobility and relaxation.
