Comprehensive Foot & Ankle Care

Here at Platts Physiotherapy we know how important it is to take care of your body and this includes your feet and toenails. Which is why we began a podiatry service in our Sedgefield Practice to keep your feet at their best.

A podiatrist, also known as a chiropodist, is a healthcare professional who specialises in diagnosing and treating conditions of the feet and nails.  A podiatrist will start with an assessment of your overall foot health and is able to diagnose and treat any problems you may be experiencing and can also educate and advise on foot and nail care.

Our highly skilled podiatrists provide treatment for a range of conditions of the foot and nails.

Nail care and conditions including:

  • General nail care/Nail cutting

  • Ingrown nails

  • Thicken nails

  • Fungal nails.

Footcare treatment:

  • Corns

  • Callous/hard skin

  • Dry cracked heels

  • Verrucas

  • Athletes foot

  • Foot pain

  • Diabetic foot health.

Podiatry treatment can benefit anyone of any age who struggle with a range of foot or nails conditions. Some may visit a podiatrist every 4-8 weeks or as and when it is needed, but your podiatrist can recommend how regularly you may need treatment, to keep your feet healthy and pain free.

We have a podiatry clinic Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in our Sedgefield practice only.

Our podiatrists are highly skilled, experienced and friendly, providing you with the best treatment, so your feet are at their maximum potential.

Our podiatrists are also members of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and the Health and Care Professions Council.

Verruca treatment

At our clinic, we treat verrucae using Verrutop®, an advanced treatment designed to effectively target verrucae while remaining comfortable for patients. Unlike some traditional methods, Verrutop® is generally considered a painless treatment and offers an excellent success rate, with approximately 80% of verrucae responding successfully to treatment.

Every verruca is unique, and the most appropriate treatment plan will depend on factors such as the size, location, and duration of the lesion. For this reason, all patients are required to attend an Initial Verruca Assessment before commencing treatment.

Your Initial Verruca Assessment includes:

- A comprehensive assessment of your verruca(s)

- Discussion of your medical history and treatment suitability

- Your first Verrutop® treatment

During this appointment, Nina will assess your condition and discuss the recommended treatment plan with you. The number of treatment sessions required varies from person to person, and this will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Nina will provide guidance on the likely number of appointments needed during your first visit.

Following your initial assessment and treatment, any further appointments can be booked as follow-up treatments. These appointments are available to registered verruca treatment patients only.

While Verrutop® has a high success rate, no verruca treatment can guarantee complete clearance in every case. Treatment outcomes may vary depending on individual circumstances, but our aim is always to provide the most effective treatment plan tailored to your needs.

If you would like to begin treatment, please book an Initial Verruca Assessment appointment online or contact the clinic for further information.
